I have a new M2 Mac Studio that arrived today... I had purchased an M1 a few weeks ago, and was able to return it when the M2 was announced. The M1, which was running 13.4, ran SoftRAID 7.5 with my Thunderblade with no issues whatsoever. The new M2, also with 13.4 and the same Thunderblade, completely crashes to recovery as soon as the Thunderblade is attached.
Any thoughts? The Thunderblade and its partitions are fine, it performs normally attached to other machines (an Intel Mac mini and an M1 MacBook Pro).
I am going to repeat what I just posted to another user:
We just started getting reports of this panic. We did not have access to a M2 Studio Ultra before shipment. It appears to be related to the prior M1 kernel panic with RAID 5, but having a different cause. (another dart controller panic)
We are working on a solution. Try waiting to connect it for several minutes before connecting, this may avoid the panic. We are testing a partial solution using the terminal, but it requires disabling security, so we would like to find a better option for users.
A fix may require an update to MacOS.
@softraid-support thanks. Let me know if you want a kernel panic report, if helpful. This is a Max Studio Max, for what it’s worth, and I do have security turned off currently as part of the troubleshooting.
This is a max, not an Ultra??
If the system panics, is "dart" in the top line of the panic log? (you can see this by "report to Apple", then click details)
If you have the enclosure disconnected at startup, and wait 5 minutes before connecting, does it panic?
@softraid-support Yes, panics (DART error) when attaching 5-10 minutes after startup.
go to softraid.com and open a support case. I need to send you information that cannot be posted publicly. thanks
Done.
