You requested I type the following in a terminal:
sudo softraidtool generatereport ~/Desktop/HappyCamper.2023-11-09.sr_supt
This does not produce a report, it aborts the command at line 242. I wanted to confirm you saw my results when typing the requested command:
jbeal@jbeals-Mac-Pro ~ % sudo softraidtool generatereport ~/Desktop/HappyCamper.2023-11-09.sr_supt
Assertion failed: (range.location + range.length <= dataLength), function __CFDataValidateRange, file CFData.c, line 242.
zsh: abort sudo softraidtool generatereport ~/Desktop/HappyCamper.2023-11-09.sr_supt
Lets try this:
in System Settings/Privact and Security/Full Disk Access, unlock it, and add (or manke sure is present) the SoftRAID Application and the terminal.app.
try again and let me know.
Under System Settings > Privacy and Security > Full Disk Access setting, SoftRAID 7.6 was present and turned on.
However, Terminal was present but turned off.
I turned Terminal on, retried command, but got same result.
I then quit Terminal application, opened Terminal application, retried command, but got same result.
I then quit Terminal application, did a "Restart" of the computer, opened Terminal application, retried command, but got same result.
I then quit Terminal application, did a "Shutdown" of the computer, waited 30 seconds, powered on, opened Terminal application, retried command, but got same result.
Something has messed with your admin profile. Are you able/willing to do a clean install on a second system? It takes some time, but has no effect on your existing system and it will give you a clean system to test with. I do not know why terminal which is a fdundamental app, would not launch.
Run Disk Utility. Select your internal disk on the left.
click + volume and add a volume. This is APFS, so it shares space with your existing volume.
Shut down
Startp in recovery mode (by holding the power button until you see the startup volume options screen. Click on "settings"
select "reinstall macOS. You can point the installed to your new volume. let it install. Do not migrate data, just use the same admin name and decline all the other junk.
Now you have a clean second system. Boot into it. See if you can launch terminal. See if you can launch SoftRAID application, also.
let me know.
Let me clarify: The native macOS Terminal application has always worked and continues to work with no issues, see attached images.
I continue to get the same error even after setting System Settings > Privacy and Security > Full Disk Access setting, Terminal to on.
If my SoftRAID RAID 5 volume "Media" is attached and mounted, then NEITHER the GUI SoftRAID application NOR the command line "softraidtool generatereport" works (see first image).
If my SoftRAID RAID 5 volume "Media" is NOT attached and mounted, then BOTH the GUI SoftRAID application AND the command line "softraidtool generatereport" work (see second image).
I used the Terminal application to successfully run "sudo softraidtool generatereport ~/Desktop/HappyCamper_2023-11-14_2025" (attached) when my "Media" volume was NOT attached.
Excellent, Let me investigate this with this knowledge. There is something strange going on, where the loaded driver is preventing the tool from running.
Looks like I'm in the same boat. Upgraded my Ventura using the standard 13.6.1 update on my Mac Pro 2019 with OWC SoftRaid on internal enclosure. On reboot, my main RAID volume is not there. SoftRaid monitor opens, but shows error and then quits. Screenshot attached. Please advise. I can't get to this volume from Finder.
Also my attempts to generate the support log data results in:
Assertion failed: (range.location + range.length <= dataLength), function __CFDataValidateRange, file CFData.c, line 235.
Abort trap: 6
the support file attempt was using terminal?
can you open a support case, so I can get you a beta? the beta we release Friday is likely to be a public beta, that I can post here, but the current beta is not a public beta.
go to softraid.com/support.
I just ran the latest public beta of 7.6.1 b5, and it gave me the same error message "An internal part of Softraid application has stopped functioning properly". This did not occur in the beta you sent me of 7.6.1 b2.
Can you attach a SoftRAID support file from b2? thanks! It will have the extra debug code we put into b5.
Here you go!

@softraid-support I just ran the latest public beta of 7.6.1 b6, and it launches without any errors, which is good, but I can't interact with it because the UI doesn't show any drives. The window is mostly a solid blue.
Can you run this debug version and send me a SoftRAID tech suport file?
