Softraid Monitor install problem

There is your problem, now we have to fix it. SoftRAID does not have the correct permissions.

What if you "uninstall SoftRAID", then restart, do not run SoftRAID yet.

Delete the application and download a fresh copy from this computer.

See if that works.

You can run the kextload command again to see if it can load.

Deleted SR after uninstalling. Restarted and dl'ed a new copy from your servers and installed it. Ran it and got the same error message again. Attached is a screenshot of Batchmod report on permissions for SoftRAID. Would you tell me where I might find all related files installed in the hidden folders? Something else has to be be screwy somewhere.

We do not use hidden folders, but there is a clue here.

Try deleting the OWC extensions in /Extensions and reset the extensions cache using these terminal commands. restart and see if SoftRAID will launch

sudo kmutil clear-staging

followed by:

sudo kextcache -i /

I  appreciate your help but I'm still having the same issue. b53 works though. I can't be the only one though, can I?

You are not the only one, no. I saw this myself on a 10.13 system. But I cannot reproduce it at will. (I resolved by uninstalling as recommended above, but it was not Big Sur)

The problem is the kext cache, the file that preloads all extensions at startup, is keeping a copy of the older driver.

If you have the hour this will take, do a "reinstall macOS " from internet recovery mode (command r) at startup. It will take an hour with a decent internet connection and will not erase any of your data.

Yesterday after the beta 7 release ofmacos 11 I did a Cmd R and re-installed the latest beta of macOS 11 again with the same results unfortunately.

Please attach a SoftRAID tech support file. I want another look at this.

I found the solution, which shoudl work for you.
In b53, use "uninstall SoftRAID" from utilities menu

restart

then run 6.0.1 and it shoudl install and function fine.

let me know if not.

Generate a support file from the command line after updating to 6.0.1. Paste this into terminal and post it here.

softraidtool generatereport ~/Desktop/2021.4.11.markf21.sr_supt

I have an idea. Does SoftRAID launch if you startup without your disks connected? (without the Monitor error)

If you have SoftRAID running, and connect your disks, does it stay running?

Now, if you identify the disk that is failing, currently disk5, by using blink disk light,  and remove it, then restart, does SoftRAID launch?

I just shut down my computer and disconnected all attached devices (TB & USB) restarted and tried running 6.0.1 final and the same results. b53 runs fine.
