The panic reports went to Apple several times during earlier betas starting as early as late July…

I always wonder how carefully Apple engineers review kernel panics. The M1 DART panic has been a major issue for a long time, yet without our pushing on this issue, I wonder if anything would have happened.

I can imagine a system where thousands and thousands of panic reports are flooding it, having some sort of system to sort them, but the panic reports do not give the system environment, hardware, etc. I wonder how useful it really is.

@softraid-support Its a hard problem to automagically parse reports like that...

I just got a notification that SoftRaid 7 release version is available. Should I upgrade to that? Or do you want me to hold on the last beta?

@tomnash

May as well upgrade. the only real differences are fine tuning the licensing, there are no driver changes from the last beta.

Super useful since they most likely accumulate into crash categories based on the similar stack traces which then get prioritized based on which category has the most reports on down unless there are low hanging easy grapes to pick.  Also the categories nobody has a clue about of have been in the system forever without fix tend to get pushed down and eventually fixed by something completely unrelated.  If someone just changed how drivers get loaded and coincidentally a huge new category comes in it is much easier to triage quickly.

The beta 4 (was on regular version 7) fixed these psycho nonstop kernel panics I was having while editing in DaVinci Resolve

@softraid-support Honestly I was about to go complain on the Black Magic Design forums, saw someone mention over there that it was going on with people using soft raid. Very glad you guys have this beta going.  🤣

7.0.1 will have an official release within a week, I expect. We also worked with Apple to support encryption on APFS volumes, which is now supported in the 7.0.1 driver, but the user interface won't be there until another release.

Here is a link to the current SoftRAID beta:

http://www.softraid.com/sr_beta

If you want to mention any issues, please attach a SoftRAID Technical Support file, which you can post to the forum. (Utilities menu)

We are aware that the driver says installation failed (SoftRAID B13), when it succeeded in fact, and there are some other driver installation issues. But overall, SoftRAID should work fine with Ventura.

Says the version is expired and will no longer run after I installed it yesterday... Newer beta? I'm installing in MacOS Ventura Beta 13.3(a)

@support Running 7.5.0.1 in Ventura 13.3(b) Beta 3 on MBP2021 14" M1Pro. Will not install update to 7.5 b19 driver: cannot initialize itself

. Getting this error message when attempted. The drives mount OK (they were running in previously migrated version driver. What should I do next?

@Henry-In-Florida

thanks!

Attach a SoftRAID tech support file.

Give me a summary of this system? Clean Ventura beta? Upgraded from what version to the beta? Were you running SoftRAID before 13.3 beta on this volume (probably) What version?

@softraid-support

Sorry, I cannot attach you a support file, since SR 7.5b19 nor 7.0.1 install the Helper to get through to the main screen of SR where that support is located.

As to summary of the System, installed it is a Clean Ventura 13.3(b) Build 22E7752300g, on a removable external drive. It's the latest OS beta. I am getting messages that some expiring version of SoftRAID beta is active but expiring in less than an hour. Don't know what that is except a message appears each time booting up in the updated OS.

On my working release OS (13.2.1), I was using 7.0.1 and was able to upgrade to the SR new beta 7.5b19 without difficulty.

I probably should completely uninstall SR from the beta OS. Which way do you suggest I do so?

BTW, I checked to be sure the Security Utility Settings are correct in the OS and they correct and File Vault is off.

Hopefully that's the info you're looking for. Anything else?

BTW, in order to log in, I had to be on the new system and had to reset my password. Your log-in process in Safari is very difficult to get through and failed when I was reporting the issue, several times.
