We may need a "core dump" to figure this out, perhaps after the holidays. It is a setting you put the M1 into, then force it to dump the "core system configuration" into a file. It can be tricky to set up on an M1, but I can try walking you through it.
Your panics are unusual.
@softraid-support Hmm. Is there a RAID level configuration that is known to work on the M1 Macs for TM backups?
When you say encryption causes a KP, do you mean even on the system drive, or just on the TM backups?
All RAID levels work on Time Machine. the volume must be APFS, which Time Machine converts to Case Sensitive.
The panic scenario is when you encrypt the Time Machine volume.
@softraid-support OK, well not sure then. As a test I unencrypted my system / data volumes. Still crashing, and is repeatable every single time.
This is going to have to wait until after the first and when I can get a debug version to try to trace this. I could not replicate it on my own, at least not yet.
@softraid-support OK, well I hope for resolution soon. This is a frustrating predicament.
Let me get back to you in a day or two, after I get a chance to speak to our main engineer about this.
@softraid-support I did see beta 5 got released, but still having the same problem.
Beta 5 did not address this issue. It had a couple other changes, nothing to do with the driver in this update.
I still cannot reproduce your monitor crash. (I am using a standard HDMI monitor, however)
@softraid-support Recall that I was able to replicate the issue, even with an HDMI monitor. So, I'm using RAID 4 and still seeing the issue. I'm at a loss here on what to do.
I know. I was expecting to also, but have not been able to replicate this yet. It may require a "high res" monitor, I am not sure.
Your panic is very different than what most are experiencing. That is why it can reproduce on RAID 4, for example. I wonder if it would happen with non RAID disks. It might.
