@softraid-support Connected another monitor via HDMI, direct to the MacBook. ThunderBay connected direct. Eject drives manually. Disconnect cables. Open lid. Kernel panic in about a minute.
@softraid-support One thing I notice is if I eject a disk (ThunderBay), cable stays connected for about an hour, disconnect, SoftRAID still reports the disks not properly ejecting.
Thats a small clue. But it is probably Time Machine hanging to the volume causing the disks not ejecting message.
@softraid-support Should I try disabling Time Machine and see if I can eject without the KP?
@softraid-support Still crashes unfortunately. I went ahead and deleted my volume to see if there was any combination of RAID levels and stability.
Tips for a set of 4 drives? RAID 4?
Maybe this is my issue all the time:
| Encryption not supported at this time. | There is currently an issue with macOS that can cause kernel panics on encrypted SoftRAID APFS volumes. We are unable to support encryption until this is addressed in macOS. |

I did not realize you were erasing the volumes as encrypted. Yes that can cause your panics. We know Apple engineering is investigating this.
@softraid-support Even though no encryption on TM backups I just had a KP like usual.
