You did something weird. This is an HFS softRAID volume, but perhaps you erased it with Disk utility as APFS?
I think you need to uninstall SoftRAID driver.
restart.
Run Disk utility and erase each disk.
Then run SoftRAID and reinstall the driver.
Make sure you "Allow" OWC as an identifed developer.
Now create a new volume.
@softraid-support when reinstalling, it no longer asks Make sure you "Allow" OWC as an identified developer.
I don't know if I completely follow the full thread, but I've been having stability issues with a brand new M1 Mac Mini and SoftRAID 6.1. In my testing, I found with or without SoftRAID installed, the ThunderBay 4 goes into cycles of sleep / wake every 5-10 seconds when Mini sleeps. Other attached drives don't seem to be affected (they are on USB) not thunderbolt. However, with SoftRAID installed, I have had the system crash shortly on waking the computer up.
The drives are controlled by macOS. Try disable sleep, and/or lengthen the sleep cycle.
It should not crash on waking up of course.
@softraid-support, you are right. Though I'm pretty sure I had this problem even when I disabled sleep completely, I may be wrong.
This seems to be a known issue:

I will either unmount before sleep or I'll use the amphetamine app to ensure the drives are kept awake. ... I suppose I can **try** to set the sleep time with `pmset` first though that doesn't seem to help others.
